In order to keep my work fresh for my amazing clients, I like to challenge myself with new concepts and ideas. With this Marin County, CA maternity session, I had a very specific vision in mind with the building we incorporated along with the gold wardrobe. To be completely transparent, this session was entirely for me to stretch my creative legs and create something totally for myself. Courtney answered the model call I put out and I can’t even begin to describe how much fun I had with her!
Bay Area Maternity Shoot
I had envisioned shooting at this exact location forever and I’m so glad I was finally able to do it! The columns and industrial vibe of the building combined with the more glam style of the golden wardrobe created such a cool contrast. Maternity sessions are all about celebrating the mother-to-be and the beauty of pregnancy. This wardrobe reminds me almost of a Greek goddess, which is fitting for the theme at hand. The detail in the gold top was even better than what I’d imagined and it was refreshing to do something a bit out of my comfort zone.
Golden Hour California Session
Not unlike the wardrobe, Courtney was absolutely glowing throughout the session. The magic of golden hour goes without saying, but that gorgeous lighting in combination with a beautiful expectant mama wearing a top that reflects that light? I couldn’t get enough of it! She was radiant with the San Francisco bay and the Golden Gate bridge setting the stage behind her. (Side note: gold maternity wardrobe and the Golden Gate bridge at golden hour. Talk about full circle!)
This project was a breath of fresh air and I love the finished results. I’m passionate about my work and my clients, but this was a nice change of pace that I hope inspires future clients to pursue a slightly less traditional session. Maternity sessions are for every mama and I seek to celebrate each style they bring to the table.
