A Quiet, Joyful Napa Maternity Session — At Home & Just Around the Corner

There’s something really special about being invited into a family’s everyday rhythm—especially during a season that’s about to shift everything in the most beautiful way.

This maternity session took place in Napa, tucked into the comfort of home and a small neighborhood park just around the corner. With two energetic, sweet boys and a baby girl on the way in just a few weeks, this family is right in that in-between space—where life is full, a little chaotic, and already so complete, yet about to grow again.

From the beginning, Mom shared that she wanted something natural and genuine. Nothing overly posed, nothing forced. More of a “fly on the wall” approach—letting moments unfold as they are. That kind of trust always feels like a gift. It allows me to step back, observe, and lean into light, movement, and connection as they naturally happen.

We started in the bedroom, where the morning light was soft and quiet. The boys climbed in and out of bed, full of energy, while mom moved gently between them—holding, laughing, just being. There was no need to direct much. The moments were already there.

In the living room, the pace picked up a bit—playful, loud, full of life. The kind of energy that feels familiar in homes with young kids. And then out into the garden, where everything softened again. Little pockets of connection, quick embraces, the in-between moments that often say the most.

One of my favorite parts of the session was hearing Mom speak to her boys in both English and French. It added another layer to the experience—something personal and grounding, woven so naturally into their day. It’s those small details that make a session feel truly theirs.
We ended at a nearby park, just a short walk from their home. Nothing elaborate—just an open space for the boys to run, explore, and be themselves. The kind of place they’ll likely return to often, especially once their baby sister arrives.

This session felt like a reflection of exactly where they are right now—playful, connected, and full of anticipation.
In a few weeks, everything will change. And yet, so much of this—the laughter, the movement, the way they are together—will remain.
