Hello Mama,
So, you're expecting a little one, and you've got a question that's probably been floating around in your brain: When do I book my newborn photo session?
It’s a question I get all the time, and it makes perfect sense. After all, you have a due date, but as we all know, little ones operate on their own timelines. They haven't read the calendar, and they certainly don't care about our carefully laid plans. They're like tiny, adorable little bosses!
So, how do we handle this beautiful chaos? It's simple.
Just Get on the Calendar
The most important thing to do is to get on my calendar. Think of it as reserving your spot in line. We'll set a tentative date about two weeks after your due date. This isn’t a locked-in appointment, but it ensures that when your baby decides to make their grand entrance, we'll be ready for them.
The Real Scheduling Happens Later
Once your little one has arrived and you've had a chance to catch your breath, the real scheduling begins. I always like to give you and your family a little space to settle in. When the dust has settled—maybe after a few sleepy cuddles and a thousand diaper changes—just send me a quick email.
I’ll check in to see how you and your baby are feeling. We'll talk about all the things that can affect when to book your session, such as:
A C-section or a different birth plan. Sometimes mama and baby need a little extra time to rest and recover.
Baby's readiness. Is baby ready for their close-up, or do we need to wait a few more days?
Baby acne. We can work around baby acne in a number of ways but if you prefer to wait until it clears, we can wait a little bit longer before booking your session.
No matter the reason, the goal is always to create a session that is relaxed, comfortable, and a true reflection of this special time.
So go ahead, book your session. We'll figure out the rest later. It's the one thing you can check off your to-do list that you don't have to worry about again.
I can't wait to meet your little one!
