Redwood Dreams: Avery's Magical Outdoor Newborn Session



It's such a joy to watch this family grow! Getting to photograph them, from their first maternity session to welcoming their second sweet boy, Avery, always feels like such a gift. Life with a newborn is often a beautiful whirlwind, and sometimes, unexpected turns lead to the most magical moments. For Avery's session, with their home undergoing a renovation, we embraced the enchanting idea of an outdoor newborn session – and the stunning Redwoods just north of Santa Rosa provided the perfect backdrop.


Finding Magic in the Forest - An Outdoor Newborn Photo Session near Santa Rosa

Stepping into the Redwoods for a newborn session was truly a unique experience. We had the whole place to ourselves, and it felt incredibly intimate and special. The dappled light filtering through the towering trees, the gentle hush of the forest, and the crisp, clean air created an atmosphere of pure tranquility. This wasn't just a photoshoot; it was a serene, natural embrace for their new family of four.


An outdoor setting for newborn photos might seem unconventional, but it offered so many beautiful advantages:


  • Natural Light: The soft, diffused light of the Redwoods is a photographer's dream, creating beautifully even and flattering tones without harsh shadows.

What makes photographing this family so special is the deep connection I've built with them over time. Documenting their journey from the anticipation of their first child, through their firstborn's milestones, and now to the arrival of Avery, allows me to truly understand their unique dynamic. This familiarity helps me capture their genuine interactions and the incredible love that binds them. Seeing the older sibling gently interact with their new baby brother, surrounded by the quiet giants of the forest, was a moment I'll forever cherish.


These are the moments that remind me how lucky I am to do what I do – to preserve these precious, fleeting chapters in a family's story. Whether in the comfort of your home or amidst the grandeur of nature, the goal is always to create authentic, heartfelt images that you'll treasure for a lifetime.
