My clients’ milestone sessions seem to come and go in the blink of an eye. It feels like just yesterday I was photographing Britta’s maternity session before Bryce was born, and now here we are documenting his first birthday with a one year milestone session in Petaluma. I can hardly believe it!
Milestone Sessions
You all know that returning clients are some of my favorites because I’m able to cultivate relationships with them. Britta and Bryce are perfect examples of this! It’s such a joy to be there to witness such important milestones in the lives of my clients, including where new life is concerned.
Since Britta’s maternity session, I’ve had the pleasure of documenting Bryce’s entire first year of life with milestone sessions. Every three months, I’ve photographed this sweet little living doll and it’s been so much fun to watch him grow and change. Getting to see these two interact during our regularly scheduled sessions has been wonderful.
Sonoma County
Petaluma is always a beautiful area to shoot but the sky on this particular day went above & beyond. It was more on the cloudy, overcast side and it provided a cinematic feel, especially with the sun peeking through for some of the shots. I love a good sundrenched golden hour but this moody aesthetic was so satisfying to capture! It complemented Britta’s flowing dress and Bryce’s adorable sweater so nicely, and all of the factors combined contributed to the magic we made.
Britta gives me all the freedom to be as creative as I want in these sessions and I adore her for it. It feels as though my work is at its best when I’m given more creative freedom, and I’m pleased with the final gallery of their session as a result! From the different poses we did down to the detail shots of those precious dimpled hands, I love the photos we got during Bryce’s one year session.
There are few things in life more heartwarming than the relationship between a mother and her child. Britta is so loving with Bryce and it’s clear that he thinks the sun rises & sets with his mama. She knew exactly what to do to get those sweet smiles out of him! He absolutely lit up while the two of them played and snuggled, and it’s impossible not to smile right along with them.
Britta, thank you for allowing me to capture the first year of your sweet boy’s life. He is such a lucky little guy to have such a devoted mother! Enjoy all of the adventures that this next year will bring.
