When I first showed up to photograph this newly created family of four, the little boy had no interest in being photographed! It was completely understandable - it's a big change for a toddler to go from being the only kid to sharing mom and dad's attention with their new sibling. It's a big change for the parents too! But after a few minutes of taking our time and not rushing into getting that "perfect" photo, we relaxed and just had some fun with it all - that's when the little boy opened up and didn't feel pressured to act a certain way. Basically, I just make a total fool of myself when I photograph, and that usually gets the little ones to laugh and interact. For this session, I was pretty much playing peek-a-boo with this little guy, hiding behind the bed, hiding in the bathroom and then popping out with my camera with a super surprised expression - and then I take the photo. He loved it! Maybe the parents got a kick out of it too?
After a few fun family photos, we captured some really sweet ones of the two siblings together, as well as just baby Emmy on her own. She was so so sweet during our session, and pretty much just "slept like a baby" through it all. :)
