Last month, we were on a family vacation and my daughter accidentally broke my glasses. Miles away from home and with only one set of contacts and three days left on our trip, I was a bit panicked. Without my coke bottle glasses, I am pretty much blind. Just imagining getting home, fumbling my way through the airport with two little kids made me feel a bit sick.
Luckily, my husband is super handy and ended up gluing and taping my glasses together, which held us through for the rest of the trip. But talk about total nerd! I had tape in the middle of my glasses!
That's when I realized that I was so tired of living this way. It was, no pun intended, a bit of a breaking point. I had just gotten so tired of not being able to see, of relying so heavily on my glasses and contacts to do anything. It would be so nice to exercise without my glasses sliding down my nose, to snorkel, to wake up and see the world immediately!
When we got home from our trip, I was talking to a good friend about the recent lasik procedure she had done, and I was sold. If you had asked me a year ago about lasik, I would have said "Are you kidding?? A laser into my eye, no thanks!" But I was so fed up with glasses, that this surgery sounded like a miracle to me now!
So, a few weeks later I decided to take the plunge and go for it! I visited Dr. Bansal's office in Santa Rosa - LaserVue, and felt so comfortable and at ease with him and the whole procedure. I had lasik surgery last Thursday, and wow (!), it really life changing. It blows my mind that I can see things on my own now, without glasses or contacts. I'm still adjusting to my new normal, and I still have the urge to just "take out my contacts and rest my eyes", but I am so so excited to see everything around me. I find myself reading the small print on the tv ads, just because I can!
If you or anyone you know is interested in lasik, I totally recommend it! Dr. Bansal and his in Santa Rosa are amazing. Here's their website: www.laservue.com/locations/santa-rosa
Plus, I got booked to photograph Dr. Bansal's family!! So looking forward to our session with fresh, new eyes.
I've been taking a few days off to rest, but should be back in the swing of things soon. Thank you to all the families I have recently photographed, and to the several booked this week for your patience while I adjust to my new eyes!!
